We have not received any new Shad reports this week and have not observed any Shad fishermen along the banks of the L American River.
Can't wait for the mountain trout season to open? Be aware that the entire upper American River watershed is open all year. That includes tributaries to the river's three forks, too.
Largemouth, Smallmouth Bass are beginning to move from the deep holes of local stillwaters into the shallows to spawn so this is the prime time to go. click here where you will be taken to a map of our local Bass waters.
We received a confirmed report that the Stripers are now in the Delta
Our fly tying instructor maestro Tim Au-Young is teaching some special classes in tying Bass Bugs. If interested give him a call (916)479-1049
This is the last chance to fish for planted trout at county lakes such as Hagen Park, Granite Park, Rancho Seco, Howe Avenue Park and Mather Lake as the annual winter trout planting is now over. The CDFW will resume planting this next fall. In the meanwhile there are sill plenty of fish left and these local waters are great places to get your children/grandchildren started fishing.
