This Weeks Blog (7/30/21)
Fires are still a factor in the Sierra though they are finally coming under control.  Even so, smoke is still a problem in many areas.  The eastern Sierra is experiencing a considerable amount of monsoonal moisture in the form of thunder storms.  That  however is cooling things down and improving fishing and raising water levels somewhat.

Hot-Spots: Some of the best fishing is in the waters of the northeastern part of the state that have some of the coolest water due to that it  generally originates in the volcanic aquafers in the area.  Fall River, Hat Creek (all areas, not just the special reg. water) and upper McCloud should be good.  Further down south the Lower Sac and Lower Yuba have great conditions and great fishing.
Fishing for Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass fishing remains very good right now in local lakes, so this is the prime time to go.  Farm ponds are especially productive but should be fished early in the day.   click here where  you will be taken to a map of our local Bass waters.
